RENATA BRENHA

Collaboration with Fashion Designer Renata Brenha.

The two main pieces included a screen-printed smocked skirt, which was designed, hand-painted and then tried and tested to ensure the print could be engineered to stretch to the right capacity to be visually correct after smocking.

The second piece was a checked dress inspired by a skirt documented in the Frida Kahlo's wardrobe archive- seen by Renata in Mexico and later exhibited at the V&A. The aim was to create a distorted check that resembled the original wear of the skirt and to use screen printing to create this worn texture in an unconventional way.

The skirt from the collaboration was then used in an editorial shoot and printed in Portuguese Vogue, as pictured below.
